"You're Fired"

Im sure you had a great weekend downtown with your friends, but does your boss or future employer want to see how you got progressively more intoxicated as the night went on? The obvious answer is no. Especially after you called in sick Monday morning. Remember everybody, do not go posting your life over Facebook or twitter when a simple Google search can expose what you were doing, where you were doing it and who you were doing it with.

  1. Hahahaha! That's a really good example Matthew.
I agree. I think people are going just a bit overboard with the whole face book thing. We tend to forget the world is getting smaller through the internet, and you never know who is accessing or can access your information on face book.
Especially putting your life down in righting, I think is a big no no.
Many of my friends say "oh its safe". Well I'd like to disagree. To tell you the truth I don't think anything is as safe as it used to be, especially since smartphones came out. I feel as if others have free access to all my information.
Not like we have millions of dollars that can be robbed, but still we all have an identity and that is what's priceless.
Back to the topic, I wouldn't be surprised if people who recruit for companies and businesses started checking applicants' face book accounts at the sight of their resumes before even considering or reading what is stated in the resume :)

  2. I agree with this as well! I actually heard on the radio that many companies now do internet checks when hiring new employees. They check everything from twitter, facebook, and even simply google their names to see what comes up. It's scary to think about how any little thing you post anywhere on the internet can affect your whole future.

  3. I have to say that this is becoming an increasing fear of many people that like to use social networking programs. Apparently there is now a system that scans your whole facebook page before you go into an interview. This allows the future employer to see what the person is actually like outside of a professional environment. But as long as your care with what you post, you should be good to go!

  4. You realize that all though Facebook allows you to connect and meet people all over the world and allows people to see what you’re doing. Or just learn information about you in general like your hobbies and goals. Facebook allows all the members to set privacy setting so only certain people can see your information and photos only your friends. So in that case no boss of yours can find out what’s going on through Facebook at least. Also there’s just no point to put up things/ pictures that could get you in trouble because your right you never know who can see, Parents, family members bosses even future bosses .So just don’t put up anything that could get you in trouble and you have nothing to worry about you agree?
